Jasna Góra

Jasna Góra – the sanctuary, the monastic complex of the Pauline Order located in Czestochowa. This is the most important pilgrimage place for Catholics in Poland. Every year, during the summer, pilgrimages take place from many cities in our country. Being on Jasna Góra we can see the wonderful image of Our Lady of Czestochowa.

Why go to this place?

Already in the 15th century, it became a popular pilgrimage place, and also in this century began to build the monastery complex, which is still preserved today. An interesting place is a library, which has accumulated about 15 thousand manuscripts and old prints. There is also an 18th-century decor. In the 20th century, the Chapel of Remembrance of the Nation was created, which functions as a mausoleum. The Museum of the 600th Anniversary of the Jasna Gora was founded in 1982. The treasury is a place to be seen and can be seen in the exhibits, such as liturgical vessels and robes, or precious chalices. We will also see the monstrance donated by Zygmunt I the Old in 1542, or the set of altarpieces of white Meissen porcelain – a gift from King August III Sasa. The monastery complex includes a tower, knight’s hall, picturesque ramparts and bastions.

The duration of an individual stay in this place will take from 2 to several hours, depending on the participation in the mass, the crossroad. Being on a pilgrimage this time will be extended by a few days. When going to Jasna Góra, you have to buy a modest and comfortable dress.

This place is very important to the believers, hundreds of thousands of people come to it every year.
